As one of the best-known privacy lawyers in the world, Lokke Moerel specializes in the implementation of new digital technologies based on privacy-by-design and ethics-by-design. She is Professor of Global ICT at Tilburg University and Senior of Counsel at Morrison Foerster (Berlin). Through her work with American tech giants, she is best known for her expertise in big data and artificial intelligence. In 2016 she co-authored the pre-advice of the Dutch Lawyers Association on big data and the Internet of Things. Lokke is a member of the Dutch Cyber Security Council and fulfills various supervisory functions. In 2018 Lokke received the International Law Office Client Choice Award: Best Tech Lawyer Germany. Lokke will highlight the theme "Opting for Vulnerability" at the symposium, and how our privacy and ethical principles can find their way into our new digital society.
