All activities and endeavors of the Veerstichting are centered around one societal theme for an entire year, which relates to various different aspects of society. The chosen theme for the year is announced during the Veerstichting's Theme Event. Family and friends, Veerstichting friends, and sponsors are invited to this annual kick-off event of the Veerstichting.
Under the guidance of the board member for Events and Organization, Veerstichting student ambassadors, organized in groups of 4 to 6 in 6 major student cities, host a one-night event to shed light on the Veerstichting's annual theme. These VeerEvents take place throughout the year and delve into various angles and perspectives related to the theme. Both students and shapers participate in the VeerEvents, providing them with the opportunity to engage in discussions and inspire each other with their ideas and thoughts.
During the annual Talent Pool Dinner, partners and major sponsors of the Veerstichting have the opportunity to dine with the Very Important Students (VIS) of their choice who have signed up for the Veerstichting symposium. Prior to the dinner, some of these companies offer workshops. Then the dinner begins, during which the students rotate tables. It's an extraordinary opportunity for both the Veerstichting's partners and sponsors and the students to engage in casual conversations with each other.
At the beginning of summer, in June, the Veerstichting organizes the large two-day Symposium held in Leiden. The participant base consists of 250 students from all Dutch universities and colleges on one hand, and 250 so-called "shapers" from fields such as business, science, arts and culture, politics, sports, etc., on the other hand. The symposium provides a platform where young, ambitious students can connect with these societal shapers who have already made a substantial contribution to society, and vice versa. Due to the high level of both speakers and participants, this meeting serves as a source of energy and inspiration, often resulting in innovative insights for everyone involved.
