Harald Doornbos

At risk to his own life, Harald Doornbos traveled almost non-stop through the Arab world for the past seven years, to report on the uprisings and civil wars in a large number of countries. He works for Arab media and the Belgian newspaper De Tijd. He also writes for international media such as Foreign Policy and The New York Times. Together with his wife Jenan Moussa, he reports on the biggest hotspots in countries such as Syria, Libya and Iraq. Not only can his work put his life in jeopardy, Harald Doornbos is also regularly threatened through social media. Harald Doornbos will talk about the added value of the risks he takes in his work as a war correspondent and what role his self-interest plays in the choices he makes.
